HowDoYouCallThat? is on a distinguished road

Default Dam Live Poker

So I recently played at a casino. I played $100-$200 buyin 2-5 blinds. I had just sat down. Getting to know the players. So a tourney was going to start, so our table got short handed. I was on the button, there were 3 limpers and both blinds were in the pot. I get A9, now i usually play tighter, But I was on the button and wanted to see the flop. Well the flop comes As9dTd, It got checked around to the guy right behind me he threw out $20, I sat and thought about it for a sec. I raised another $50, he insta called. Then the turn came a 4c. He checked to me, I had about $80 left, I go allin. He sits and thinks about for a while. He finally makes the call. i was like crap what if he has AT. The river was Tc. He turned over AQ. What a freaking river. Guy was drawing to a Q or T. So sucks I was upset.

Thanks

Default It all goes so quick...

Ugh. Sorry about that. The money can go so fast in those tournaments, especially for someone like me who is trying to learn. And by learning I mean I've been sitting in at tables for two years. Not consistently, that's the problem.

Looking back, did he seem like a pro or was he just lucky?

Naw he is this guy that is very rich and I have played with him for years. He sits up at the casino alot and gets lucky. But, he has so much money behind him, him makeing mediocre calls is not big deal. My buddie that has played with him for years he said dont you know better then to get involved with him.

Thanks

Ugh....those rich guys should have their own table. They should assign all of us based on our poverty level...hehe. Then we at least know a little bit about our opponents and the odds, or willingness, of them bluffing and making any call.

LOL. Never thought of it like that. That would be funny. Play tables by annual income.

Thanks

Rough beat, sorry to hear that. Those kind of hands definitely happen and that guy definitely belongs at a limit table where he can fish his night away. Poor luck is something that you just have to play through, but it hurts so much when you outplay someone and they come out the winner. Keep at it!

I never seem to do well in tournaments, so I usually don;t play in them- they scare me and I always feel like I can't hang!

If thats your train of thought, your right not to play. If you don't believe in yourself....your beat before you sit down.Plenty time to rehash and berate yourself when/if your busted. Until then you should sit quietly, play cautiously, while you own the table from the short stack
