This is exactly the reason why I do not play limit, because you see both novice and advanced players playing to their luck where they would normally not. If you're going to bluff, that's fine, if you're actually playing your cards, that's good too. If you're going to play the turn and the river cards potential outcomes from the pre-flop, don't sit down at the table with me. I cannot stand healthy betting from someone who has pocket pairs or something well above their opponent who gets skunked on the river from someone limping in with their fishing rod hoping to catch the big one at the last second. If I were playing limit though, I would play the suited connectors, they provide a lot more options than pocket pairs. With pocket JJ, you may be even more tempted to play the limits of each round of betting while ignoring the inside straight or the flush that the sucker across from you is getting. Limit poker is a very heads-up game that leaves a lot of skilled players frustrated. |
