What are Turbo Sit and Go games?

If you’re after faster action than the standard one table Sit N Go’s, then you should take a look at the Turbo Sit and Go games offered at most online poker sites.

Unlike a standard Sit and Go, the blinds are increased more often (faster) and the game usually lasts less than one hour. Commonly the table has nine or ten players, but Turbo Sit N Go’s can be found at the six player tables at many sites.

Don’t play Turbo’s the same way as a standard game

The blinds, moving faster, are the factor that tells you to open up your game early to many more starting hands than you would at a standard Sit N Go. A ‘tight – aggressive’ style is still the rule, but to insure not getting blinded out, you will have to open up with a wider variety of hands. Just think of it as playing the middle to late rounds of a standard Sit N Go.

Should you feel the urgency?

While playing these faster tables, you will notice that some (if not many) of the players feel a sense of urgency to play almost anything immediately for fear of being blinded out. DON”T GET CAUGHT UP IN THIS. The game is still the same, the cards are still the same, so even though the game moves faster, if you have junk, fold it!

How to bet

At Turbo tables, if you are going to bet, make the bet 30% larger than in a standard game. For example, if you would normally raise three times the big blind in a standard game then make it 4 times the big blind in Turbo. Players will be betting with hands less lofty than in standard.

Remember, the rules of the game have not changed. Only the speed has changed. Gathering information is not quite as easy since the game moves faster, but position can make the difference if you will shift into high gear on you betting.
