Default Playing Online vs. Live ???

What are the key differences for you when playing online vs. live?

For me, it's not being able to see the other person. It's frustrating online because it is ALL blind...cute little avatars of a cat do not help me figure out what the other person is doing.

Would appreciate any hints/suggestions/strategy help.

I haven't played online yet. But I think live would be easier as you see the peoples faces and clues if they are bluffing ect

Exclamation I wouldn't recommend playing online

There are many, many online poker sites that are simply scams. I would just stick to real life poker.

Control.

I find that playing online is a little unreal. The money doesn't seem real and I find that I have less control over myself than if I play against other people. When playing online, I find that when I decide to stop, it's usually at a point long after I would have if it was real life. It has resulted in worse games for me, and bigger losses. For my own sanity and for economic reasons, I had to stop.

I'm one of these rare types that can set a limit and stick to it. If I lose more then 50 I quit, if I win more then 300 I stop.

Gambling in any form requires control. Just check out where you play online throughly before you do.

Playing online has it's advantages. For one thing it goes 10 times as fast. However, I believe poker is a social game. I'm not in it to get rich... just to hang out with friends. I much prefer playing in person. Also, all you have to go against online is people's betting patterns... In face-to-face playing there is so much more.

I hate playing online. Live poker is sooo much better! I have played a sit and go online before and I swear to this day that two of the people were cheating.

When playing online, you really have to be in control. The game moves so much faster , and it's true that the money seems "unreal" sometimes, so it could be easy to make bad decisions. I try to always remind myself not to make a call, raise, or bet that I would not do in a live game. If I'm playing crazy because it's the internet, then I know I'm getting into a bad habit!

the most notable difference is that online is far more aggressive than live.most players, myself include bet, raise and re-raise more than they would in a live game. it is easier to get away with because no1 can see you as you sweat and shake hoping no1 calls your bluff. it is less intimidating atmosphere than a poker room so peopl arent afraid to make questionable raises.

even in the real money games people can play outrageously aggressive.i recently lost a $70 heads up with kk allin against 8-10 when my opponent found a straight on the turn!because of our constant raising he had incorrectly put my allin as a bluff and foolishly called!
