Default How often do you bluff?

I am just wondering how often some people bluff? I bluff quite often and it seems to work more often then not. Does anyone have any good strategys for bluffing well?

It depends on how the table is, and how loose the players are post flop. I also think the nature of the flop is important. Say I am on the button with TJ I am more likely to do a continuation bet with a flop of A95 or K88 versus 295. Yes it is likely he missed the flop aswell, But if he has any sense he will realize you didnt either and possibly reraise you. On the other hand he may lay it down if he is a weak player and folds %70 of the time.

Bluffing on the later betting rounds is a whole other story.

Thanks

I only bluff if I don't have too much to lose!

Default Posture

I bluff for posture at least 80% of my bluffs. If I had just taken down an opponent in the past few hands, where he/she is down but not out, I will possibly bluff at the next opportune moment just for posturing as if I'm getting the cards at that game. Whether I have the cards or not, it is a good trick to make people think that you are catching cards especially a few hands after a big hand where you went the distance and smashed the opponent. Bluffing works the best when you mix up your style of play. What I mean by this is that you can quietly play and take down a huge pot (not necessarily slow-playing) with a whopper of a hand, then come out a few hands later and bet big. This will lead your opponents at the table to think that you have the cards, and are getting more confident/lucky as the game progresses. Your opponents will call this a rookie mistake while you will know better. Happy Playing!

It depends on who I am playing but *looks around* i'll admit I bluff a lot towards the end of the game. A lot of it is reading the other players and knowing if they'll call you out, I bluff more in real games than online. I also bluff more in Texas Hold em than any other game, it's works best for me there. But I've learned if I stare them down they always think I am bluffing which is even better than actually bluffing.

I bluff more often when I'm familiar with the other players' tics, but I find that this strategy works against me with my regular poker buddies. We've been playing so long that we can read each other like a mirror now.

The best table to bluff is when the players are mixed up: there are some new people that I've played with before and just getting to know, and some older buddies whose tics I can read and anticipate.

It depends on who I'm playing.

If I'm playing someone relatively seasoned I do it less then when I do with someone who knows the game. Rank newbies, never, because they bet and bet and I come out behind more then I don't.

Seasoned players it's the same reason. Someone always is a better bluffer then you are.

I bluff too often. I read once that the average professional poker player bluffs once every seven hands. That doesn't seem right to me though... I might be mistaken.
